How to specify a custom three-side seal pouch.
A three-side seal pouch is a straightforward flat format. This guide explains what the construction means and which inputs matter to a reliable first estimate.

It is made as a flat pouch with sealed left and right edges and a straight sealed bottom edge. The top remains available for filling and is closed later according to the agreed packing process. Because there is no bottom gusset, the live quote uses width × length rather than width × length × gusset.
This clear distinction matters: a flat pouch should not be shown with the curved internal support seal used for a Round or Doyen bottom. FORMPACK keeps the two constructions separate in both the product reference and the live technical drawing.
What information should I provide?

When is this format a sensible starting point?
A three-side seal pouch is a useful starting point when a flat pack is acceptable and a self-supporting gusset is not required. Its geometry is easier to communicate, and it can suit samples, flat goods and products that will be displayed or packed in an outer format.
The packed product still determines the final decision. Bulky contents, sharp edges, heavy fill weights, hot filling, freezing or automated filling may require changes to dimensions, laminate or seal allowance. Add those details on the order confirmation page rather than guessing.
Film, finish and artwork
The default calculator structure is PET + PE. Alternatives start with PA or EVOHPE as the outer film, while PE remains the sealant layer. VMPET can be added as a metallised interlayer when opacity or light blocking is relevant. Gloss and matt are the standard finish options shown online.
The quote assumes a transparent, unprinted pouch until artwork is uploaded. The browser preview lets you position, scale and rotate the design. Plate cost remains provisional because a prepress specialist must separate photographic process colours, spot colours and any white underprint.
What happens after the instant estimate?
Submit an email address to send the configuration for human review. Other customer and product fields are optional, although completing them can improve a recommendation. No payment is taken on the website. The estimate remains valid for 14 days; standard commercial terms are 40% to start and 60% before dispatch, subject to order-by-order confirmation.
